Today we took a nice long hike along the Assabet river. Bailey and Brandon took a couple dips along the way.
We learned that playing fetch with a stick in a river is a challenge. Brandon, the fetch-a-holic, was not able to return the stick after I threw it in the river. Go figure!
As we reached the deeper part of the river Brandon also learned how to dive. He jumped in, expecting it was like the rest of the river, and went completely under water. That surprised him a bit, but not enough to change his feelings about water.
After the two hour hike we returned for a brushing and the monthly dose of flea and tick juice. Now we have some sleepy labs resting through the evening.

After a week of drizzle and damp weather the weekend is forecasting sunshine. Time to get back out and enjoy the weather. What plans do you have? Are your pets included?
This weekend I plan to take the kayak out — if I only had a tandem kayak to take the dogs.
Before the kayak trip the dogs and I will play a little fetch in the backyard. The whole time I will hope the ball doesn’t end up in the garden. Brandon is so focused on getting the ball he will tear right through ANYTHING in the way. We’ve lost several screen doors that way. After a little fetch we’ll go “cool down” by walking in the open field. Of course Brandon will continue to want to play fetch and try to rest in between throws. Bailey will graze on the grass like a goat.
Later in the day I’ll let the bunnies graze in the backyard, burn a couple laps and do a couple fancy hops.

Brushing our chocolate lab is a lot like brushing a bear. . . without the claws. We just finished playing fetch and Brandon decided he wanted to lay in the cool grass while I brushed him. What a mess!!

Sleeping like a baby
This is our newest addition to the family. She is our new baby…at least she thinks so and so do we. Can you believe that Lilly, our little Lop Bunny likes cuddle like a little baby. This has to be one of the cutest pictures.
